Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) 8th February 2014
There are a number of private run schools mushrooming in every corner of Kakching. It has become a lucrative business given the high fee structures of such schools. It has become more of a fad for parents to say they are sending their child to these schools. Nowadays parents are confusing to choose the best school with affordable fees and after completion of school he /she can compete national level exams. At this juncture most of parents choose Navodaya Schools because of its facilities (free education at national level standard School).
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) are a system of alternate schools for gifted students in India. They are run by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, New Delhi, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Education, Government of India. JNVs are fully residential and co-educational schools affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, with classes from VI to XII standard. JNVs are specifically tasked with finding talented children in rural areas of India and providing them with an education equivalent to the best residential school system, without regard to their family's socio-economic condition.
Admission to the JNVs requires qualifying in an entrance exam, called the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test(JNVST), designed, developed and conducted by NCERT earlier and now by the CBSE, except lateral admissions in the class IX and XI to the very limited seats held on annually apparently on February 2nd Sunday. This year JNV entrance test to be held on 8th February, Saturday, 2014. The school provides reservation as per mandate of Govt. of India, at least 75% selection of students from rural areas, maximum 25% from urban areas and fixed 33% to girl students.

Brief history:- The institution was founded in the year 2004 with four students and a teacher with the object of providing them the necessary assistance in their academic career. The strength of the students in the institution was about forty students including day scholars in the next year. The institution brought up some of its students from 5th & 6ith classes up to 10th class with a view to holding position in the HSLC examination. But, unluckily, it became a fruitless endeavour. Then it turned its target NAVODAYA Entrance exam. of 6th class. First only two students appeared in 2008 entrance test out of which one student was successful. A student passed in the next year out of appearing two students. In the next year i.e. 2010, thirty five students appeared from this institution. Nine students got selected out of them. Then the number of students appeared from this institution was increasing by leaps and bounds and the percentage students passed in the said entrance was increasing dramatically. Now the institution is the most popular institution for the coaching of the JNV entrance in the southern Manipur. The following figure shows the achievements of this institution since 2008 in the test.
