A song that keeps me feeling, and also thinking, but feeling more. Every time I listen to it, or read the lyrics (...O! What it does to my so weak a heart!), it makes my heart thump, me breathe heavily, and every time it surely makes my heart pump huge of love. https%3A//soundcloud.com/love2beauty-ru/nino-rota-what-is-a-youthWhat is a youth? Impetuous fire. What is a maid? Ice and desire, The world wags on.
A rose will bloom It then will fade. So does a youth So does the fairest maid.
Comes a time when one sweet smile Has its season for a while... Then love's in love with me. Some may think only to marry, Others will tease and tarry, Mine is the very best parry. Cupid, he rules us all. Caper the cape, sing me the song, Death will come soon to hush us along. Sweeter than honey and bitter as gall, Love is a past-time that never will pall. Sweeter than honey...and bitter as gall Cupid, he rules us all. *Lyrics: Eugene Walter; Music: Nino Rota; Film: Romeo and Juliet (Franco Zeffirelli, 1968). The singer--unfortunately I don't know.

Now. long after I have passed my tender days of youth, I realize how short-lived youthful days are! Although they live on in the heart, these are only the shadows/memories of those that are long gone. The song gently takes me back to those early days of romance and fantasy when everything seemed eternally beautiful. Nevertheless, I seem to believe in what Milton said in his epic poem, Paradise Lost, "Everything is in the mind. We can make heaven out of hell; hell out of heaven." I am opened to any correction if I have put those Miltonic words incorrectly here.

The mind is its own place, and in itself Can make a heav'n of hell, a hell of heav'n. What matter where, if I be still the same, And what I should be, all but less than he Whom thunder hath made greater? This is the invaluable pleasure of talking with a well-read man. Thank you, oja Wanbe. I like Milton. A very thick poet, I would love to call him. That said I'd like to add one thing--the mind or the state the mind can be in, when you are reasonably healthy, is not that (forget "absolutely" ☺ ) independent of the factual material condition. You grow old and your behavior changes. This change makes the difference and determines much of your mental state's values, even for the people who we think change relatively less and slower. (Fortunately ☺, I am one of those who are very slow and whose mind does not grow old that fast. Envy me ? ☺ ) Yes, while none is free from the touch of "time," its effect is not felt equally across the sea of minds. The difference is due to nothing but people's temperament they are more born with than trained in or acculturated to. Even identical twins who share a lot of biological stuff, provided with practically the same facilities, brought up in the same material atmosphere grow up to become people very distinctly different from each other, at least qualitatively. Mind and matter--they are mutually causative.

Thank you Oja Thoithoi for the amazing mighty lines from the Paradise Lost! I wish I were one that is less/least affected by the passing of time-- someone whose youth days last much longer than many others, someone whose mind remains least affected by the turbulent winds of time. I have turned to music to help me achieve a longer lasting youthfulness. My hair is graying and my skin is wrinkling, but my mind, I feel is moving at a much slower pace.
